Welcome to Ryokan Tazuru. This small Modern Ryokan is located between the Kamogawa and Takasegawa Rivers with the Higashiyama mountains in the background. Its location is ideal for sightseeing and is just a 10 minute walk from the Geisha districts of Ponto-cho and Gion. Ryokan Tazuru is a small ryokan with only 13 Japanese style rooms. A traditional Kaiseki dinner can be served in your room so please request this when you are making your reservation.

  My son and his fiancee were visiting us and Ryokan Tazuru was one of the reasons they so enjoyed their trip. I have stayed in much more luxurious ryokans, but spending all day out sightseeing we needed a comfortable room, a nice onsen and welcoming staff. All of those objectives were accomplished. We only had the breakfast and it was very good. They even accommodated my son with a special breakfast as he is allergic to fish. If you are looking for a well priced ryokan in a good location, Ryokan Tazuru makes the grade.

  This was my favorite ryokan in Japan. Our room was very nice with a view of the river and city. We loved the soaking bath in our room and we all took baths every night- I want one at home now! The breakfasts were served in a nice dining room with a view of the river. Food was wonderful and staff was very nice. The location was also great, easy access to restaurants, public transportation, and taxis.

• Only disappointing ryokan we visited during a four week trip. Avoid at all cost, not worth a penny.

  Disappointing from beginning to end, after having enjoyed Japanese hospitality in many places, this was the absolute low in our holiday. Impersonal reception, refusing to book restaurants, telling stories about restaurants to be closed, which was not correct, lazy room service, beds were not removed during the day, Internet was not working, personal letters were read etc. etc. never, never, never again, avoid at all cost!
