Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.

Welcome to Yakushi Onsen Hatago. This ryokan has 27 rooms. All rooms at Yakushi Onsen Hatago feature age-old furniture and antiques from as far back as the Edo era. Many of these antiquities are displayed in their natural working environments, which only adds to the historical feel of the place. The hot springs on offer at Yakushi Onsen Hatago were first discovered by pilgrims during the Edo era. The hot water seeps out of the earth at 42.8 degrees Celsius. The onsen offers private and public baths, as well as an Ashiyu (foot bath).
Good to know: Yakushi Onsen Hatago is closed between April and October.
