Lovely authentic ryokan in the centre of this beautiful island. Would highly recommend taking the dinner & breakfast option. This was the best food we had in Japan; 5* restaurant quality. The couple who run it are lovely. Private onset facility available.

Beautiful and fantastic place to stay. The staff are amazing and the scenery around the ryokan is beautiful whereas the ryokan itself is very cosy. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing experience. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious. Their level of English was much higher than I'd anticipated!

This ryokan was perfect! My friend and I stayed one night here towards the end of our trip. We wanted the traditional Japanese ryokan experience, and this ryokan was the perfect fit. I had the best food here in all of my time in Japan. It was mainly seafood based, and I don't usually eat seafood - but I loved it! The room we stayed in was both comfortable and spacious. They have two private indoor onsen baths. You sign up for one hour, which was plenty of time. One of the baths is for 1-person, the other bath can fit 1-3 people. The couple who runs the ryokan are extremely friendly and can speak enough English to make communication easy. Definitely the highlight of my trip!

Me and my boyfriend stayed one nighth in this riokan. Everything was perfect, almost magical. The location is very convenient: it's near to the ferry boat and to the torii. The room was spacious and we slept very well. The food, especially dinner, was fantastic. Also the onsen was a great experience Highly recommended!

I couldn't have asked for a better ryokan experience, with a highlight being the wonderful meal that Kawaguchi-san prepared for me and the lovely setting in which it was served. It's a charming inn with a comfortable bath. I doubt the higher-range ryokans on the island can deliver a better experience.

Our stay at this amazing Ryokan was simply the highlight of our trip! The staff were friendly and helpful with lots of information about Miyajima and spoke English very well. Our room was just lovely and we all enjoyed wearing our yukatas. The food was wonderful and so plentiful. We could barely move after eating all the courses of dinner!! Our children were well catered for also, with their own special set menu and their own smaller yukatas. The bathroom facilities were exceptional also. We were reluctant not to have our own private shower in our room, however we were pleasantly surprised with the share facilities. We were able to book the family bath for an hour and it was just gorgeous - it was lovely to soak in the large warm bath and it was so beautifully appointed. The ryokan is in a very easy to find and convenient area, only a 5 minute stroll to the torii gates and located just off the main shopping strip. I highly, highly recommend a stay here - it is well worth the cost! Loved it :)

Stayed here for one night in March 2018. This was my first ryokan stay ever, and the best stay during my one month Japan trip! The host was super friendly and accomodating, and had good english. Since the torii gate on Miyajima island looks different during both high and low tide, it was great staying overnight to experience both, and going early to avoid the crowds! The family style bath downstairs was pretty heavenly, but the food was absolutely the best part of the stay. So many courses for dinner, and pretty much all of them were sublime. The host also delivers each course as you finish the previous one and carefully explains the components of each dish. My room was also huge for one person, contained its own toilet and sink, a tv, table, aircon and green tea. Amazing stay and highly recommended!

We stayed one night here as a final hurrah on our budget holiday. This place is fantastic. Lovely people. A _beautiful_ 300 year-old guesthouse. In the family for 15 generations! An unforgettable dinner and breakfast, among the best meals we had in Japan. With a splash in a quiet, hot onsen in the evening. Do it.

The ryokan is located in a quiet lane. Yet it's very central and convenient. I love the dinner most. Simple home cooked dishes but delicious. I think the lady who served me and prepared the food is the owner shown in the website. Though she is older now. She speaks very good English. She explains every dish with detail as she serves. Only set back is the onsen is only available in evening. Morning the common bath is just for bathing only. Overall, highly recommended!

Ryoso Kawaguchi has a great central location but in a quiet street. Friendly staff with detailed information on tide and sunset times (vital for full enjoyment of the Torii gate and Itsukushima Shrine). Japanese dinner and breakfast were exceptional. Our stay was too short at only one night, there is so much more to see. Be sure to take the heritage ferry to Hiroshima.

I booked the Ryoso Kawaguchi Ryokan as my family stayed there 2 years ago and they highly recommended it. Everything has been absolutely perfect. If there is one place to stay in Miyajima, it is here. The highlight has been the diner - my best food experience in Japan.
