Narayan Ryokan is a brilliant place to stay. My wife and I stayed here for 7 days during the peak snow season and were totally knocked out by the service of the owner Akiko and her staff. They went out if there way to make sure we had everything we needed (Tall Futon and extra doonas, Recommending places to eat, organising taxis and discount ski hire for wife) and we love the fact they hang up your snow gear at night and bring it back to your room when you finish breakfast. speaking of breakfast...traditional Japanese breakfast every day is delicious, healthy and plentiful. Best way to start before a big day off piste. Then there is the Onsen. Warm your body in the thermal springs fed baths it's the only way relax. Only downside is the they are single sex ( no snuggles for mum and dad). Very clean, with fantastic traditional paintings and other stuff to look at. Thank you Akiko...see you next year as we have booked again and are taking the kids. NOzawa Onsen is a great place if your looking to soak up Japanese culture and not be overun with Australians.

This was our second stay with Akiko and her family. This is a wonderful ryokan, fantastic Japanese breakfast, and dinner! Rooms are very clean and the onsen is spectacular, esp the outdoor one with the pretty snow flake coming down... The service and care provided by Akiko and her staff are next to none! We certainly enjoyed our stay here, both times!!
