Koyasan is a wonderful place to visit. It is a little gem of a place. Joki-In was great. Staff were very accommodating and nothing was too hard when we required some help. Food was delicious. We went to morning prayer which was well worth it. We would recommend Joki-In Thank you for making our stay memorable

I would definitely recommend having Koyasan on your list of places to visit in Japan and Joki In is a great place to stay. Only downside of traditional rooms is that walls are paper thin so if your neighbour snores (and he did, like a train), you might end up not sleeping too well. The location is great (less than 5 minutes from the centre of town and within talking distance from everything, Koyasan being small), the staff and food was amazing and the atmosphere different from anything I had experienced before. The whole trip was effortless and worthwhile. The whole experience is very interesting and it gives you a glimpse of a different Japan.

I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay at Joki-in. The staff members are very friendly and fluent in English. The room was big, quiet, and comfortable. The food in particular was a pleasant surprise. Despite not being a vegan, I enjoyed every dish provided and had a filling meal. The temple itself is well-kept and I appreciated having a beautiful garden view from my room. Overall, I would highly recommend staying at Joki-in, especially in the older part of the temple.

We stayed at Joki-in for one night prior to our Kumano Kodo hike. Everyone at the Joki-in was very warm and welcoming. My girlfriend and I found our room very comfortable and atmospheric. Albeit not being vegans ourselves, the meals we had were delicious and abundant, dinner being quite extravagant and breakfast much more than we are used to having at home. The Buddhist prayer service in the morning was fascinating, and well worth waking up a bit earlier for. We greatly appreciate our time at Joki-in, and Koyasan in general; it was easily one of the highlights of our first trip to Japan.

Seriously this was above our expectation. The temple is well maintained. The food was simple but tasty. The big plus for us was that it's relatively small and calm due to not having a lot of rooms. Would definitely recommend and go back

We stayed at Jokiin for two nights (late May). First, Koyasan is amazing for itself, we got there by car and enjoyed the scenic route going up the mountain and the beautiful, peaceful village of Koyasan with its shops and small restaurants, and of course, the beautiful temples. Jokiin was amazing as reviews say, the staff, the garden, the food - one can't ask for more. We did one morning ceremony with the monks and it was truly special. We highly recommend Jokiin and Koyasan.

Everything was just perfect. We spent two weeks in Japan and this experience was by far the most fullfilling. Don't miss the morning ceremony and the onsen bath!

The Joki-in temple is amazing, the staff is warm and makes you feel very welcome, Koyasan is beautiful (and so is the journey by train and tram), the cemetery and it's temples. Don't miss the morning ritual. Highly recommended! :-)

Everyone at the Joki-in was very warm and welcoming. My friends and I had a room with a garden view which was gorgeous and atmospheric. The meals were delicious, dinner being quite extravagant and breakfast a bit plainer. We went to the Buddhist prayer service in the morning at it was worth waking up so early for.

Staying at Koyasan, at the Joki-in Temple, was the most amazing experience we had in Japan! Definitely! When we booked this trip, we were afraid that the temple lodging would be a "tourist trap" or that it wouldn't be as special as we thought it would. But all our expectations were blown away with the hospitality of the people of the temple, the beauty of the surroundings and the comfort of the temple and the room. If you're considering going to Joki-in, we advise you to take advantage of all they have to offer: the amazing public baths and the peaceful morning rituals. A trip to the mausoleum is a must, of course, but the stay at the temple is a gem in itself. We thank all of the people at Joki-in for treating us with such kindness.

Koyasan is a must visit when travelling to Japan, the area is amazingly calm and beautiful, its temples will transport you back on time..... Joki-In was perfect, more than we expected, super clean, great staff, location and the rooms were simple & with all what is needed to enjoy a great relaxing time. We spent 2 nights and I beleive that that is the minimum to really get to feel the special atmosphere of the place. We highly recommend Joki-In Thank you for the amazing experience
