Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.

Welcome to Hananoyado Matsuya. Located in Kinugawa Onsen, this Ryokan Hotel has 64 rooms, most rooms are Japanese style but they also have 3 half Japanese and half Western rooms (a Japanese area for eating and a Western area with beds). Most of the rooms have private baths though not all and 3 of the rooms have private indoor hot spring baths. Hananoyado Matsuya also has 2 shared indoor hot spring baths (divided by gender) and 2 shared outdoor hot spring baths (divided by gender) which are open in the evenings from 15:00 to 23:00 and again in the mornings from 5:00 am to 10:00 am. There is also an indoor "family bath" that you can rent and have some private time in an hot spring bath. Check-in time is after 15:00 and check-out time is before 10:00 am. Parking is available.
