Great location, first stay in a ryoken. Dinner was great but difficult to communicate that our daughter doesn't like oysters. The Japanese breakfast was also very delicious. Could not fault it.

The Ryokan is very close to the Memorial Park. I liked the building, the facilities and specially the food. Staff was incredibly helpful and I enjoyed my stay there. I´d definitely recommend it to anyone.

We wanted to stay in a Ryokan and were not disappointed. Food was great, the staff was fantastic and despite our great age we found the futons very comfortable. We also made use of the Western style seating area.

We had a perfect stay at this ryokan. Location is perfect: we walked from the train station and we walked to the main sites. The hotel is clean, quite and cozy. The staff was very polite. We really enjoyed our time there. I wanted to stay more!

Quiet and cozy ryokan, albeit a little worn down. Nice helpful staff, but with very little command of English. Excellent dinner, so-so breakfast. Good facilities and excellent location right in the middle of Hiroshima's shopping district and very close to the major sights. If you have a Japan Rail Pass remember that the Hiroshima Loop buses are free to use - very convenient, and it was all we needed for transportation for the entire stay!

Serabekkan was our first stay at a traditional Japanese inn. Its location was perfect for our sightseeing and shopping needs. As the ryokan is in the center of town, the view from your room is of the city. We enjoyed the delicious seafood dinner and the indoor Japanese bath. The room was very clean and the staff was accommodating and gracious. They were able to respond to our questions and provide directions in English, even if not fluently. Please keep in mind that outside of Tokyo, English is not as readily spoken. We enjoyed the experience and would stay here again.

We researched a ryokan close to sights so that we could experience a traditional Japanese style inn. This inn is well organized and the people are very friendly and try very hard to accommodate all of your needs and to communicate. When so dishes are presented, some of the items were not as fresh nor as warm as they could have been. The dinner was well presented and we enjoyed most of it. The condition of the facility, although clean, is reflected in the moderate price. After being deluged with Japanese food for dinner, we should have chosen Western breakfast.

The ryokan is conveniently located for the two main sights we wanted to visit. The Hiroshima Memorial and the December Holiday Illumination (holiday lights along the Main Street). Both were within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel isn't fancy from the outside and make sure you know which side street you came from as you get to the larger streets. The inside is a nice clean room with a bathroom/shower. We very much much enjoyed the in room Japanese dinner with several courses that had the in season oysters that Hiroshima is known for. (But if you have dietary concerns, I'd contact them ahead of time. The date of arrival is probably too late to change the dinner menu). We ordered the Japanese breakfast and enjoyed this as well (we are big fans of Japanese food). The staff was very nice and friendly - they spoke limited English, but we were with our daughter who just finished a language course, so that made things easy. We'd definitely stay here again - even without the family translator.)
