Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.
At JR Shin-Kobe train station, take the Hokushin Kyuko railway line and get off at Tanigami train station. At Tanigami train station, change to the Kobe Dentetsu railway line and take this train to Arima Onsen train station. Takitoritei offers a pick-up service from Arima Onsen to Taketoritei (reservations required). Another route: From JR Shin-Kobe train station, it is a 20 minute taxi ride to Taketoritei.
