Welcome to the Suminoe Ryokan. This Traditional Ryokan is located between Hiroshima and Kurashiki, on Ikuchi Island in the Seto Inland Sea. Only one of its guest rooms has both a private bath and toilet. Eight of its guest rooms have a private toilet, and the remaining two rooms have neither a private bath nor a toilet. Suminoe Ryokan has a Honkan and Shinkan, its main building and annex. It was built around 150 years ago, and opened as a ryokan about 50 years ago. From their rooms guests will have a view of either the sea or the garden. The Suminoe Ryokan chef recommends seafood from the Seto Inland Sea.

This was a wonderful experience. Suminoe is located right in the sea front and on the fabulous Kaido cycling route. The experience of wearing Kaminos. sleeping on futons and Japanese food was perfect. The staff were top class and though we had no Japanese and they had little English it worked just fine. Hired bikes and did some of the beautiful KAIDO route. Weather was fabulous .. overall we would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed our 2 days in Suminoe Guest House. Location is excellent overlooking the sea and on the Kaido cycling route. The staff in Suminoe were just super and even though they have little English (and us no Japanese!) we got on fine. The whole experience of wearing kimonos, Japanese food, futons and the lovely quiet atmosphere in the house was wonderful. We hired bikes locally and cycled part of the beautiful Kaido. The weather was fabulous. Suminoe is right next to the ferry port for the ferry which we got from Hiroshima. Wonderful experience.
