I cannot say enough good things about this ryokan. A quick drive down the road from the train station brings you to this magnificent building that's a step back in time. The interior wood work, doors, walls and stone garden are a dream. The garden views from our room were pure serenity as was the garden view from the huge, luxurious bath. Our room was immaculately clean and absolutely huge. There was a comfortable seating area to have delicious tea and a separate area to relax, read and look at the garden. The food was the most incredible meals we have ever had in Japan. We used to live there so we have more experience than just this vacation and the meals offered at this ryokan were spectacular. We had kaiseki dinners two evenings and wonderful, enormous breakfasts to send us on our way in the morning. The inn-keeper speaks English and he was delightful and helpful. He suggested an itinerary and printed directions and information for all the sights to see. We were there during a typhoon and we were were still provided with a hot breakfast- even with the electricity temporarily out, and then he gave us a ride to the train station! This place is an experience not to be missed. It will tick all your boxes for a perfect Japanese vacation.
