We are grandparents of 2 Japanese American children who live in Tokyo with our son and daughter-in-law. We love to visit them there. But we also love to visit ryokans in Japan and see different parts of the country. We so enjoyed our visit to Notoya-Awazu Ryokan for 2 nights, as part of a visit to Kanazawa to see its famous garden. Our suite at Notoya-Awazu was very traditional in its style and furnishing. It was clean, well-cared for, and very comfortable. The baths were very soothing and the shower facilities were excellent. We have stayed at ryokans in other locations and enjoy the aesthetic, the meals, the onsen baths and the kind staff. The temple area on the hillside is very lovely and obviously continues to provide meaning for its visitors. Our meals were served most professionally by friendly staff. The chef presented us with healthy, delicious food that reflected the seasonal offerings of the freshest items.
