Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.

Welcome to Motoyu Magokuro. This ryokan is located in Fukuji Onsen. There are 24 Japanese-style rooms in this traditional wooden hot spring ryokan, and most rooms have their own private bath and toilet. Shared indoor and outdoor hot spring baths are available. The women’s and men’s indoor hot spring baths hold up to 20 bathers, and they are open 24 hours a day. There are outdoor hot spring rock baths for both women and men, and they hold up to 25 to 30 bathers each. The outdoor hot spring baths are open 24 hours a day, and they provide a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and forest. There are also 2 “Family Baths” which means a family can hang a sign outside of a hot spring bath and bathe privately. Fresh, local cuisine is served. Check-in time is after 3:00pm and check-out time is before 10:00am. Parking is available.
