Welcome to the Yoroduya Onsen. This Modern Ryokan in Yudanaka Onsen was founded over 200 years ago and is known for it's excellent service. This ryokans has 28 rooms all with private indoor hot spring baths. You can also take advantage of the 5 public hot spring baths including 2 traditional rotenburo or open air baths and a family bath were you can reserve some private time in a hot spring bath. The building is modern but the owners have worked hard to maintain Japanese aesthetics and decorate it with seasonal flowers and unique furniture. It is located near Zenkoji Temple and Yaen-koen park where you can enjoy the snow monkeys bathing in their hot spring bath. Check in is after 15:00 and check out is before 10:00. Yoroduya offers free parking.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Yoroduya after a week of skiing, and this was a wonderful, relaxing end to our trip to Japan. The onsen were incredible--I'll never forget soaking outdoors in a beautiful natural pool, looking up as snow fell through the bamboo leaves. We soaked twice a day. The food was also wonderful. We didn't know what we were eating a lot of the time, but it was lovingly prepared, generous in quantity, and they did a great job attending to my pescatarian diet. Not everyone spoke English, but the staff were all enthusiastic, kind, and gracious (they generously gave us a ride to the snow monkey park and to the train station). The town is pretty sleepy, but we did have fun walking around and running our hands through the many public hot spring fountains. After eating well, sleeping well, and soaking in the onsen for 2 days, we came out of Yoroduya supremely relaxed.
  • Lovely retreat away from the crowds

Had a lovely stop here away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Picked up at the station after an interesting train ride from Nagano. Try to sit at the front or back of the train. Nice room and really good onsen for a long soak. This was most relaxing. We went vegetarian and both the evening meal and breakfast were extensive and the food excellent. So many courses. The staff were very friendly although not all spoke English. They even arranged for a minibus to take us to the monkey park in the morning and then back to the station. Overall I have to say an excellent place to stop. Note there is not much in yudanaka so make good use of the onsen. A visit here will not leave you disappointed.
