Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.

Shiki No Yuzashiki Musashino Bekkan is a Luxurious Ryokan but with a traditional Japanese feel in the Miyanoshita area of Hakone. This is a smaller ryokan with only 20 guest rooms (19 of which have a private indoor hot spring cypress bath). There are also large communal hot spring baths (same gender only) with both indoor and outdoor baths for you to enjoy. If you are looking to bathe in private you can use one of their family baths, ask the front desk staff about this when you arrive. In the evenings you will be served a traditional "Kaiseki" multi-course dinner prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients. For breakfast you are in for a treat and will be served homemade tofu.
