We loved our stay on Miyajima Island in Kikugawa Ryokan. We chose the Western bedroom with ensuite and it was very comfortable and quiet. The best experience however was the evening meal. Numerous exquisite small courses of Japanese food delivered to our table and set off nicely with sake. It was wonderful. We felt Kikugawa was well-priced (with both breakfast and dinner included) and well-located to be handy for all that Miyajima has to offer, and yet off the main tourist trail and therefore quiet. Highly recommended.

Excellent hospitality, truly amazing food (quality and seemingly endless courses!) plus a great location. Only a two minute walk from the Miyajima ferry, also very close to the centre. One of the best accommodations we experienced during 3 weeks in Japan.

What a pleasant stay at Kikugawa guest house. Calm and quiet, wonderful service and an own cosy bathroom. You have what you need and it´s the perfect location for strolling in the city and it is close to the ferry and the main street. We arrived on a warm day, so the room was a little damp, but the Aircondition fixed it. Enjoy your stay! Thank you! Arrigatogozaimasu!

Just 3 minutes walk from the ferry station and 10 minutes to most of the sites you can not go wrong staying here. You get all the modern conveniences yet you are staying at a traditional Japanese Roykan. The staff/owners were very helpful in making sure we got the most out of our stay on the island. We had dinner both nights it was 9 courses each delicious. Each night the menu was different giving us a way to experience many different local dishes. I highly recommend!

On the crowded touristic isle of Miyajima, enjoyable food is a rare commodity. The ryokan has a convenient location, close to the port and the commercial street. The Japanese room was quite nice and the service was correct. However, the food was not at the expected level of quality at all. Food is NOT COOKED in their kitchen but ordered on the go to wholesalers, having been in a few ryokans in different cities, I was expecting fresher and tastier food. We tried to having a few adjustments to the menu which took a 10 minutes negotiation in the middle of the meal. The breakfast was very disappointing: a toast, half a glass of juice, a coffee, 1 grape, a tiny slice of an apple, a segment of an orange and one grape (yes, no plural here). I strongly recommend not to order the food while staying.

Clean and comfortable room, the ryokan is located away from all the hustle and bustle but within a throwing distance of all the happenings. Highlight is definitely the dinners! Staff is friendly and helpful.

The ryokan is quiet and small, and it gives you home feeling. Location is really convenient, close to the ferry and to the shopping street at the centre of the village. Traditional Japanese dinner was superb, and western breakfast was good as well. The staff was very kind and helpful. The room was quiet, toilet size was small but acceptable. Walking along the alleys of Miyajima dressed in yukata by night, when everybody has left the island, is definitely an experience to try.

Three of us stayed here for 3 nights in September - a couple and a single in 2 rooms. After 2 weeks of sleeping on tatami we decided to go for the western option, that is beds. Not an option in many ryokans. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others. Rooms are not large but for 2-3 nights they are good value. The Kikugawa is well located. A short walk for the ferry and from the shopping street but away from the tourist hordes. The breakfasts and dinners are great value and very tasty. We only ate in one night choosing to eat out the other nights. While there are not a lot of options for eating out there are enough. I would highly recommend staying on Miyajima rather than staying in Hiroshima. There is a lot to see and do on the island - temples and beautiful walks which you don't have time for on a day trip. Go to Hiroshima and Iwajima as a day trip - very easy to do.

The room was extremely modest. It was small with no storage areas to unpack and smell of mildew. The bathroom was tiny and used the same water pipe for the bath as well as the sink. The decor was negligible. Dinner however, was beautifully served. Many small portions of quality food with a small scoop of ice cream for dessert. If you are on a budget it is a good place but otherwise I would recommend staying in a nicer ryokan for a better experience.

The best dinner and breakfast ever. Love their hospitality. Obachan actually help with laundry and it is really fast. only the location is kinda scary if at night..since we need to go through tunnel and dark alley. but other than that, everything is perfect.

We stayed only one night and after leaving early the next morning wished we'd booked another night to see more of the island including Daishō-in temple on Mt Misen. Despite this our Japanese Room located at the front of the Ryokan was excellent and the room including ensuite was huge by Japanese standards. It was clean, tidy and very comfortable indeed. The accommodation was also more than reasonable value when compared with the price of other guest houses on the island and in our opinion should be highly recommended. The evening meal was also really good and communicating with our friendly waitress added to the fun experience. This accommodation is handy to the ferry and all the island highlights. We'd ceratinly have no hesitation staying here again.

The Ryokan was nice with a very homelike feel. The food was delicious and the room was comfortable. Stayed in the western style room with the double beds and I enjoyed my stay. A little bit of English speaking, which was nice. Miyajima was beautiful and it was awesome to be able to see the sights at night after most of the day travelers went home. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the Japanese style loft room with ensuite bathroom, which was comfortable and had everything we needed for our overnight stay. The food was fantastic, with a delicious dinner of local produce and seafood - some of the best food we had in Japan. The location was close to the main shopping street and within easy walk to the main attractions on the island and the ferry. It was great to walk around the island at night after the hoards of tourists had left for the day, and to beat the rush to get to the top of Mt Misen the next morning. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, and the price for food and accommodation was reasonable compared to some other places on the island. Highly recommended.
