Welcome to Hiiragiya Ryokan. This Traditional Ryokan opened for business in 1818 and it is one of the finest ryokans in Kyoto. It has been operated by the same family for 6 generations. This 2 story wooden ryokan has Japanese-style guest rooms. From some of the rooms, guests can enjoy the view of Hiiiragiya Ryokan's Japanese garden. This ryokan has "family baths" where you can reserve some private time in the public bath (not a hot spring bath). These baths are open from 15:00 to 23:00 and from 7:00 am to 10:00 (please ask at the front desk for details). Hiiragiya Ryokan serves the finest Kyoto-style Japanese "kaiseki" (formal, traditional Japanese cuisine) on traditional ceramic pottery and lacquerware. Check-in time is after 15:00 and check-out time is before 10:00 am. Parking is available. Attention: The staff will take all luggage to and from the guest rooms - the interior of this building is very valuable. Notice: Hiiragiya Ryokan doesn't accept children under 13 years old and is located in central Kyoto which is a very big and busy city. There is a road running in front of the ryokans with cars passing by day and night which may make it a bit noisy at times.

Hiiragiya Ryokan also has a 2 story, wooden, Traditional Ryokan close by called Hiiragiya Bekkan.

We were fortunate to have a beautiful room in the main part of the hotel for our stay. This Ryokan has been owned by the same family for generations, so the owners take great pride in their business. We were treated with great courtesy by all staff members. This was an experience not to forget.

Our stay at Hiiragiya was an incredible experience and a highlight of our trip to Japan. This is a beautiful ryokan with staff that goes above and beyond. The food was delicious and a fun way to try a lot of local cuisine. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Japan.

What a wonderful experience. A beautiful Ryokan run by a beautiful family. The whole experience from the room, to the dining room and all the meals were amazing. The attention to detail was perfect in every way. I would recommend it anyone coming to Kyoto. The rooms are authentic and comfortable everywhere is everything you imagine to be and more.

This is a beautiful ryokan in Kyoto. The staff was very attentive and courteous and it was easy to communicate despite our weak Japanese, because their English was excellent. No onsen, but the bathroom in our room had a lovely ofuro. The room was very attractive and spacious. The food (both dinner and breakfast) was outstanding and almost too beautifully presented to eat.
