Welcome to Kozantei Ubuya. This 5 story Luxurious Ryokan (see definition of ryokan styles below) has an east and west wing, and there are 48 Japanese-style guest rooms and 4 combined Western and Japanese-style guest rooms. Each guest room has its own private bath and toilet. There are indoor and outdoor hot spring baths for both women and men (same sex only) at Kozantei Ubuya with fantastic views of Mt Fuji. Fresh, seasonal cuisine is served to the guests. Check-in time is after 14:00 and check-out time is before 10:00 am. Parking is available and some English is spoken.

  We spent two nights at Kozantei Ubuya and if we had to sum it up in one word it would be "DIVINE". But it deserves more than one word, so here goes : from walking around the lake towards the ryokan to catching the shuttle bus back to the station, everything surpassed expectations. The views, the atmosphere, the room (aka flat), the service, the facilities and the food, everything was truly five stars and makes the price tag, which initially before our trip seemed high, very worth it. Leaving was hard!

  We spent sixteen days in Japan and the two nights we spent at Kozantei Ubuya were by far the most memorable. The ryokan is comprised of three modern buildings and so feels very domestic in scale. The room was very spacious with a focus on the view of Mt Fuji. We couldn't take our eyes off of it even when it was behind the fog. In our yakuta (robes) the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The staff was helpful and were many but never in the way. The onsen, the meals, the gardens and massage chairs all added to the luxury. The best part was the efforts on the part of the accommodating staff. It was my partner's birthday and there was at least five staff along with the JGH team that made sure the birthday cake was perfect, the candles lit, the birthday song sung and then they gifted a photo and bottle of wine as well. It was amazing. I highly recommend this ryokan and can't wait to return myself.
