A magic place to stay! Surrounded by the forest the ryokan is quiet and peaceful. We stayed for 2 days. The room was so lovely with a view on the forest and the sound of the River. It was like a dream. The dinners were fantastics and breakfast helped us to climb mt Misen. The owners are lovely and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

The location in the middle of a big park is very quiet and the buidling and room were charming with an old-timey feel. The owners were really great and very helpful when we had special requests regarding the ferry and luggage. Definitely the place to stay if you are looking for a quiet, family-run ryokan!

Most enjoyable stay, impeccable service including transport to the boat. Attention in the Ryokan could not be bettered room and setting could not be improved, breakfast in the rising sun a delight. Siting of Ryokan just what we were looking for. Above all the hosts made it feel as if we were in a personalised guest house and they showed great sensitivity to our personal needs. Would highly recommend the experience to any foreigner and will definitely stay there on return to Japan.

We were just staying one night on Miyajima during our trip in Japan with our kids ages 4 and 2. We had baulked at some of the prices of the Ryoken especially on this island. We booked with Momijiso as a more sensible financial option and we were really delighted that we had. It has a LOVELY setting in the beautiful woods leading up to the cable car but still only 5-10 mins from Itsukushima shrine itself. It is a welcoming family run place and the room we had was fantastic, the food great and the family bath really great for us with the kids. We would highly recommend Momijiso when looking for a great value option to stay.

Very friendly family. We stayed only one night in the kayakan room with a beautiful view. Breakfast and dinner were very good. Place is clean . Location is convenient to get to the rope way and surround park with deers.

It was a special night in Miyajima and very quiet, just a little water noise in a pond next to the room, very relaxing. Ryokan is close to Itsukushima torii, a short beautiful walk through the park, where we could see some deers.

I daydream a lot about our trip to Japan last May and I think back of Miyajima and Momijiso with a big smile plastered on my face. We fell in love with the island and the little guesthouse in the middle of the forest. Staying here was peaceful and quiet, everything I wanted out of an overnight experience on Miyajima. To go to the illuminated Torii Gate in the evening after a skillful and tasty large dinner and to wake up in the early morning with an elaborate breakfast, listening to Ghibli tunes and seeing the deer walk by the window was just magical. The room was perfect for us, the big windows offered a nice view over a stream and on a pond with koi fish. It was very charming and I slept very well. I loved that it was a small ryokan, very personal, humble and quiet. A great place to fall back to when you’ve explored the beautiful island. The owners were lovely and welcoming, they made sure we had everything we wanted and were even willing to honor our request of holding on to a bag while we explored the Ropeway and Mt Misen the next day before we left the island. Thank you so much Momijiso!

I stayed at Momijiso with my boyfriend and it was just like I dreamed it (maybe even better). The location is quiet and peaceful, lost in the forest. We enjoyed the sounds of nature, the diner witch was delicious and generous. By night we went for a walk to the village witch is very close (the path to the village is beautiful). In the morning, the occidental breakfast was also a delight, and we started a walk to Mount Misen before the tourists arrived, we were alone, a miracle in august in Japan. Our stay at the ryokan was the highlight of our trip ! Thank You !

The building looked like a run-down shack from the outside, with lots of tarpaulin sheets covering what might have been tables or junk. The family was flustered and unprepared for our arrival. The whole place smelled of damp and mildew—so much so that the first night I barely slept as the smell of the pillow was so unpleasant. The "vegetarian" kaiseki menu, served in a windowless room, was basically sushi and sashimi to start, followed by cooked fish. My poor kids could barely eat anything so I asked if we could skip the dinner the next night. They said no. The bathrooms were moulded plastic old fixtures and the onsen was pink tiles and dirty grout. It all reminded me of my great aunt's house when I was growing up—right down to the crocheted tablecloth. No charm whatsoever. Since we couldn't get out of the booking, we struggled through our stay, but it was very painful to count out 110,000 yen in cash when we checked out. We stayed in several other ryokans during our 3-week trip that were fabulous—this one was a total disappointment.

Momijiso is not a "luxury" Ryokan but what a lovely place all the same. Being in the middle of a park with no cars around completely surrounded by nature was just wonderful. The facility is very basic but the rooms are very comfortable and we had such a great view a stream with small waterfall on one side and a koi pond on the other. I have stayed in "5 star" Ryokan in Kyoto and Momijiso is far nicer in a humble way.

My 12 year daughter, partner and I book two wonderful nights in this wonderful part of the world. We loved everything from being picked up at the port to the amazing, individualized foods served with such pride at dinner and breakfast. We loved sitting at night with no noise around us except the sounds of nature. We also loved the fact that the cable car (which we never even knew about till we arrived) is only 10 mins walk and the beautiful little town is also in walking distance. Probably the highlight of our trip to Japan. Such polite, quiet, welcoming people. Many thanks

We really loved this place. We had a very warm welcome by our hosts and and they did everything to make us feel comfortable. The house itself is a haven of peace, a little bit remote from the center of the town, in the middle of nature. At the time we went there we were the only guests and so it was very quiet and peaceful, it was so nice to have the whole attention of our hosts just for ourselves. The rooms are traditional and we slept very well on the "futons" There are all the amenities and it is perfectly clean. The meal was a culinary feast and was served the traditional japonese style. We really enjoyed this place and we can say that it was the most genuine experience of our travel in Japan, we will never forget it. We highly recommend this ryokan

We arrived in heavy rain at the island and it was already dark. We easily found the way to the ryokan and were welcomed by heartful owners with a nice and loveley room and a warm bath. The served homemade Japanese food was delicious and the night was relaxing in the nice dormitory, with rain falling on the roof and in the pond near the windows. The served breakfast was delicious as well and we left the hotel with a crying and laughing heart for sightseeing. This place is highly recommendable

Tranquil and away from it all. This Ryoken is right at the end of the road in myajima, very close to the rope way and walks in the mountains. The couple that run it couldn't o enough for you, even with our limited communication on both sides. The room was fantastic, classically Japanese, with a pond/stream outside the window complete with fish. The food was excellent. All in all a great stay and highly recommended, and good value! The bath is a bit disappointing, as some reviewers have said, but there are so many other places to do hot baths - we would recommend public baths which are really good fun and very different. So sit back and enjoy!
