Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.

Welcome to the Hotel Nakanoshima. This huge Ryokan Hotel is located on its own island (Nakanoshima Island), and it has 141 Japanese-style rooms and all guest rooms face the Pacific Ocean. There are 2 indoor hot spring baths for both women and men (same gender only), and 2 women's outdoor hot spring bath and 1 men's outdoor hot spring bath. The Hotel Nakanoshima also has 2 "Family Baths" where a family can hang a sign outside of the bath and bathe privately. In addition, there is an outdoor hot spring "family bath" which can be rented (please ask at the front desk for details). During the months of July and August, guests can enjoy the Hotel Nakanoshima's outdoor swimming pool. Japanese-style cuisine is served to the guests. Check-in time is after 15:00 and check-out time is before 10:00 am. Parking is available at the port.
