Location: Shirabone Onsen (Shirabone Hot Spring), Nagano Prefecture
Welcome to Awanoyu Ryokan. This Modern Ryokan (see definition of ryokan styles below) first opened for business in 1912. There is both a "Honkan" and a "Shinkan" at Awanoyu, and there are 24 Japanese-style guest rooms in both buildings. Awanoyu has indoor hot spring baths for both women and men (same gender only), including wooden baths made of Japanese "hinoki" (Japanese cypress). These baths hold up to 40 bathers each and they are open 24 hours a day. There is also an outdoor hot spring bath for women only - this bath is made of rock and bathers have a view of the surrounding mountains near Awanoyu. A large, mixed (both women and men) outdoor hot spring bath is located in Awanoyu's Japanese garden and it can hold up to 100 bathers. Fresh, local cuisine is served to the guests. Check-in time is after 15:00 and check-out time is before 10:00 am. Parking is available. Modern Ryokan
