My husband and I stayed at the Senju-in temple in early June 2018 and it was the highlight of our trip! Truly a travel experience like nothing we have done before! The monks were so kind and welcoming! There was no real issue communicating with anyone, charades goes a long way! The temple grounds are stunning, beautiful and quite large! It was such a pleasure to stroll around and explore. The food was incredible! The room was basic but very comfortable, clean and peaceful. The fire ceremony was lovely and quite moving. I cannot recommend this temple stay enough, book it! Couple of tips, try to share a cab with other visitors if possible to save a little money. Don't bring large luggage, suitcases are not allowed in the rooms in order to protect the floors. Pack a day bag for your stay and leave other luggage in a train station locker. Relax and enjoy every minute!
