Welcome to Senkyoro. This Traditional Ryokan has been hosting guests for over 130 years. There are 32 Japanese style guest rooms and 2 combined Western and Japanese style guest rooms, and each guest room has its own private bath and toilet. There are indoor and outdoor hot spring baths for both women and men (same gender only), and there are “family baths” which guests can privately reserve. Senkyoro also offers pottery classes which you can sign up for when you check-in. Please ask at the front desk for details. Traditional Japanese cuisine is served to the guests. Check-in time is after 15:00 and check-out time is before 10:00 am. Parking is available. Some English is spoken at Senkyoro.

  My Husaband and I had an outstanding time at Senkyoro. It was an incredible experience! The staff delivered excellent service and exceeded our expectations. The staff were eager to help and extremely friendly. The staff members had us feeling like VIPs. I can't give enough praise to the staff and the genuinely great experience they created. As soon as we stepped out of our cab, the staff greeted us outside, took our belongings and escorted us inside. Several English speaking staff explained the Ryokan experience and hot to enjoy all their amenities. Staff frequently addressed our personal preferences and helped us around the town surrounding the Ryokan. The food was wonderful peek into Japanese culture. The traditional meals were delicious, each tinybplate its own piece of art. Each meal was different, and though the servings were small, so many dishes made for a full belly. Tastes were to a Japanese, refined palate and one must be comfortable with pickled flavors, fish and curious textures than what is normally found in a Western diet. We Loved it! The setting was absolutely breathtaking. I couldn't take enough photos. The beds were cozy and we felt very comfy on the futon beds. The natural hot springs were very, very hot. I want to note, that I prefer cooler temperatures for hot water soaks than the average person. Still I enjoyed the Onsens so much. The views from the private outdoor Onsens were georgeous. Our overall experience was excellent. I would like to return here during winter, I think the stunning views will get even better.

  We had a lovely stay at Senkyoro Ryokan. We were greeted by what felt like the entire staff when we arrived at the resort up in the hills around Hakone. We opted to reserve the private onsen (around $15 for 45 minutes) where we could soak together, which was a peaceful and relaxing way to start our stay. The rest of the onsen facilities are very nice and well maintained with indoor and outdoor options. Our dinner in the dining room was elegant and playful. While we didn't have an exact idea of what we were eating, every bite was a delicious adventure. One of my favorite meals on our 2 week stay in Japan. We finished with a hot sake by the wood-burning fireplace in the lobby. All in all, our stay at Senkyoro was a highlight of our stay in Japan for sure. Wonderful staff!

  We enjoyed everything about our stay at Senkyoro. It was a great location to explore the Hakone area. Easily accessible from the bus line. The room, the bath, and the attentive staff were all excellent, but the food was over the top. It was delicious and the presentation was artful.

  It was very nice. We were the only foreigners so that made it seem a lot more like really being in Japan. The dinner was in a shared dining room on a western table so that was a relief after sitting on the tatami for a few weeks. The food was local Japanese nabe and they quickly substituted one with fish when one of us wanted to be sort-of-kosher. Breakfast of tea okayu (rice porridge/congee) was excellent. The location is good for Nara sightseeing.
